Job Description

UX Researcher & UI Designer

 

Our big brand, fast-paced client in Minneapolis is looking for a UX Researcher & UI Designer to join their team for a part-time (20-30 hours/week), long term contract. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting initial user research, identifying touchpoints that bring the user and company together, developing user personas, designing authentic journey maps, using content to establish the information architecture, low fidelity wireframes, and outlining design interactions. You will be responsible for the look and feel of the user’s experience by establishing the visual design of an application through high fidelity designs and interactive prototypes for layouts, screens, modules, and interactions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize abstract ideas into tangible solutions for design
  • Advocate for human-centered design solutions
  • Conduct interviews, surveys, and other user research to discover insights, define user personas, and map user journeys
  • Create distinctive, branded digital experiences that are desirable and consistent across multiple platforms, devices and channels
  • Develop new product concepts, storyboards, detailed interaction designs and screen flows, and prototypes to clearly articulate solutions
  • Create compelling visual designs that align to company and product brand standards
  • Conduct concept and usability testing to iteratively validate and improve design solutions
  • Actively collaborate as part of an agile team to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately
  • Track user experience metrics and reports on the success of UX improvements, including analytics
  • Consider the diversity of the users and designs according to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors or relevant discipline
  • 4+ years of experience designing consumer web applications for mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • Proven experience working in design teams in an Agile product development setting
  • Ability to plan, conduct, and synthesize user research and usability testing; experience planning and conducting user research at various stages of the design process
  • Strong visual design skills, able to create compelling, branded, high-fidelity product screens
  • Familiar working with design systems that consistently scale across platforms
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate the value of a design choice to users and non-designer stakeholders
  • Creative problem solving and analytical thinking; proactively advocates for the end user
  • Collaborative, curious, empathetic, open-minded, innovative
